Scottsdale's Neighbor to the East...with stunning views in all directions!
Tucked into the McDowell Mountains at an elevation several hundred feet above Phoenix, Fountain Hills enjoys crisp air, slightly cooler temperatures and a more secluded existence than its other counterparts in Metropolitan Phoenix. It has been honored with the designation as one of the "Fifty Fabulous Places to Raise your Family."
Fountain Hills was established in 1970 by the same development company who developed Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Its design plans were drawn up by Charles Wood, Jr. The man credited with designing Disneyland.
Looking for a way to differentiate their city, the developers conceived the idea of having the world's tallest man made fountain as a centerpiece. That fountain shoots water 560 feet into the air, creating a geyser five feet taller than the Washington Monument.
Fountain Hills full time population number is 25,251, while the part time population adds an additional 3,000 - 4,000 during season. The average household is 2.6 people, and the average age of full time residents is 42. The median household income is $78,258. Condominium prices begin in the $166,000 range, while single family estates can reach into the $1 million range and beyond. The average price for a single family home is $400,000.
The communities within Fountain Hills include Eagle Mountain, Sun Ridge Canyon and the FireRock County Club.
Because it's bordered by the Salt River Pima Indian Community, Fountain Hills is likely to remain at its present 11,340 acre size. This will only increase property values as the demand for these views, and this seclusion continue to grow.
