Toronto Stock Exchange in Town Courting Arizona Companies

Doesn’t that title have a nice ring to it? It’s a sign of business growth and our healing economy. When we read the article that was published in the The Phoenix Business Journal yesterday with the same title, we just knew we wanted to share it with out readers who may have missed it.

Here are some snippets:

“Executives of the Toronto Stock Exchange and investment bankers are in town to meet with CEOs and CFOs of entrepreneurial and fast-growing Valley businesses with the potential to go public.”

“TMX Group, which owns and operates the Toronto Stock Exchange, also brought with it a group of lawyers and accountants to help Valley companies sort through tax and structural issues associated with a foreign initial public offering.”

“The Canadian stock exchanges offer unique options and structures for taking smaller and midsize companies public that often aren’t available in the U.S.”

“That’s made the Canadian stock exchanges a viable alternative for companies in Arizona and across the nation. In 2011, 23 U.S. companies were new listings on the TSX Venture Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange. That compares with 21 new U.S. listings on the TSX and TSX Venture Exchange in 2010.”
